Henrik Ibsen's 'Doll's House' / Love & Marriage ?
[ send me this paper ]
5 pages in length. Love is not necessarily a prerequisite for marriage. Brought together in matrimony but respecting none of the inherent principles, the two people merely wade through their relationship as though one were the master, the other a slave. The writer discusses these points as they pertain to the play. No additional sources cited.

Mann's Man Of Straw
[ send me this paper ]
A history book will tell the reader about the rise
of nationalism in the Kaiserreich as a prelude to the rampant
anti-Semitism of the post World War I era. These are just words that
have a two dimensional meaning: time and place. If people, or the
social atmosphere of both individuals and movements, is added, the depth
of understanding increases as the reader incorporates the pieces of
human nature that they see as part of themselves. This 7 page paper
asserts that Heinrich Mann's Man Of Straw utilizes the development of
one character: Diederich Hessling, to reflect the society in which he
lived, enabling the reader insights not available through conventional

Tradition and progress have long at opposite ends of the cultural spectrum, an ongoing struggle that divides entire communities into two distinct groups: those who welcome the changing social and political landscape of cultural advancement and those who see it only as an intruder to a life steeped in tradition. The extent to which Tayeb Salih's Season of Migration to the North exemplifies this struggle is both grand and far-reaching; that his Sudanese protagonist gleans the empowering benefit of Western education only to feel the restraint of traditional African culture speaks to the manner by which this duality is fraught with great resistance. "The Kite Runner" - Significance And Importance Of Metaphor
[ send me this paper ]
3 pages in length. To read Kipen (2003) express Khaled Hosseini's The Kite Runner as lurking a metaphor "so apt and evocative that even the author never fully exploits its power" is to understand the magnitude of the story's symbolism. The very nature of a kite runner is to spot fallen kites after they have been severed by an opponents less-than-ethical tactics of coating the kite string with glue and ground glass. As opposing kites collide, one is bound to fall victim to the slicing effect of the string and be sent catapulting to the ground. Kipen (2003) explains that while the fighter's kite is "swooping and feinting in an effort to rule the skies, his kite-running partner is racing to own the streets, chasing down all their opponents' unmoored, sinking trophies," an illustration of how Hosseini employs it as a metaphor of power and betrayal.
