While this break from traditional gender roles proved beneficial to her quest for more intrigue in her life, it ultimately played out in a most tragic climax. Indeed, it was her desire to reach further than she was socially and culturally able that caused her and her family to experience deep pain. The writer discusses Awwad's character, Tamima. The Metaphoric Use of Structures in Keri Hulme’s “The Bone People”
[ send me this paper ]
This is a 5 page paper discussing the metaphoric use of structures in Keri Hulme’s “The Bone People”. Throughout Keri Hulme’s “The Bone People” there are a number of structural metaphors which are significant in the strengthening of the emotional contexts of each section. In addition to the recurrence of “the tower” throughout the novel which is used for physical and psychological isolation of a character, most prominently Kerewin, there are also other structural elements which are significant and found throughout such as “the spiral”. Hulme’s introduces the structural image of the spiral early in the work when the readers find that a spiral staircase is at the center of Kerewin’s tower. The spiral is considered significant in the novel as Kerewin remembers that the old people used to use spirals in their carvings as a symbol of rebirth. It is not surprising then that for Kerewin, her life also reflects a spiral, as she circles back to rebuild her house for her own rebirth. Studying the structures throughout the novel by starting in the middle and then spiraling back towards the start of the book and then the end can be done to reflect this study of the structures and spirals throughout the work. Bibliography lists 3 sources.

Viktor E. Frankl's "Man's Search For Meaning"
[ send me this paper ]
5 pages in length. The issues behind ethics and morality are critical to defining what meaning truly represents. One who has thoroughly addressed these concepts is Viktor E. Frankl, a remarkable individual who has brought to bear his own interpretation of meaning through his life experiences. In his book entitled "Man's Search For Meaning," Frankl manipulates his time spent in Nazi concentration camps as a means by which to reach deep down within his soul to find a will to live. What Defines A 20th Century Author?
[ send me this paper ]
8 pages in length. What defines a twentieth century author? Is the manner in which he employs the language? Is it the stylistic flair she attributes to the particular topic? Or perhaps it might be when the reader gains a significant understanding of the author's personal existence through the subtle yet poignant prose? Indeed, the Norton Anthology inference is that a prolific twentieth century author possesses all of these characteristics and more. When defining a twentieth century author, the Norton Anthology suggests that such a person embraces a cornucopia of aspects: personal triumph, social transmission and spiritual conscience. Poet Elizabeth Bishop exemplifies what it means to represent twentieth century literature. The writer discusses that with a combination of overt simplistic presence and veiled darkness, she represents the very fundamental approach necessary to successfully master Norton's definition.
